Photo Rejuvenation Treatments

Photo rejuvenation treatments with the Candela GentleMax Alexandrite/Nd: Yag
What is Candela GMAX Laser?
The Gmax is innovative technology setting new standards for the treatment of skin conditions associated with aging. GMAX Laser allows your technician to precisely and effectively treat such conditions as:

  • Age spots/Sun spots (Benign Pigmentation)
  • Malasma (Pregnancy Mask)
  • Uneven skin and dull (grayish) complexions
  • Hyper pigmentation
  • Rosacea
  • Facial Telangiectasia
  • Diffused redness and small facial capillaries
  • Acne scarring
  • Fine lines and overall skin appearance

How does GMAX work?
The laser emits thermal light energy that targets melanin and /or hemoglobin.  The light energy emitted through the skin is then absorbed my the pigmented cells resulting in fragmenting (destroying) the targeted cells. These tiny cells are then absorbed by the body or eliminated throught cellular turnover removing the darkness or rendering them less visible.
In addition the heat absorbed by the skin will stimulate skin cells to generate new collagen and elastin and shrink the skins tissue.  This is how the skin appears smoother and more even tone, looking vibrant and younger with each treatment.

What areas can be treated?
Any area of your body can be treated. The most common areas are those that are exposed to the damaging effects of the sun. The most popular are the face and neck, back of the hands, chest and shoulders.

How many treatments will I need?
From 2 – 5 treatments at 2 – 4- week intervals will produce desired results. You may benefit from additional treatments depending on the severity of your condition and heredity.

How long will it take to recover?
This is a non-invasive and gentle procedure with virtually no down time. In most cases you will be able to return to work, apply makeup and resume daily activities. We recommend that you avoid direct sun exposure and exposure to heat such as hot tubs and exercise for 24 hours.

What should I expect after wards?
You may experience some redness that should resolve within a few hours. For some pigmented lesions you will see a darkening of the spots that will be followed by flaking and fading of the color. Your skin will feel smoother, fine wrinkles and pores will be reduced and sunspots or uneven pigmentation will fade. Results depend on your conditions and the number of treatments.

Will it be uncomfortable?
This procedure is gentle, non invasive and safe. There should be minimal or no discomfort, however this varies from person to person and can depend on the intensity of the treatment. Your technician will ensure your comfort is priority. You may take a pain killer if you like, avoiding aspirins. Your best options will be discussed in the consult.  Avoid caffeine and come well hydrated.

What will happen during the procedure?
The treated area will be cleaned of any lotions or makeup. Your eyes will be protected will goggles pre approved for Laser use. You will be lying comfortably whilst the Laser technician maneuvers around you completing the treatment. After wards you may be given packages to further improve the results of your treatment. You will be given instructions to care for your skin and any reactions that you can look for and expect. You should follow the directions exactly and do not expose yourself to sun or heat for 24-48 hours. If you are in the sun please be smart and protect your skin with SPF 30 or higher. It is a waste of your time and money not to.

Your treatment will be followed up with a call from your technician and any questions you may have will be answered.
